Classroom Behavior Systems
Behavior ManagementIn our classroom, behavior management is focused around positive reinforcement and respect. A big emphasis is put on respecting ourselves, others, and property and students are recognized and rewarded when they show respect in any of those areas.
|
Classroom Expectations:1. Be Respectful (to ourselves, others, and property).
2. Keep hands, feet, and objects to ourselves. 3. Raise hand and wait to speak. 4. Be kind to everyone. |
Tickets
In our classroom, we use a ticket reward system. Students can earn them to trade in for rewards or prize box items, but can also lose them for not following expectations.
Ways to earn tickets:
1. Ending the day on "Green" = 1 ticket
2. Ending the day on "Positive Purple"= 2 tickets
3. Bringing back their reading and/or math homework= 1 ticket
4. Displaying respect at any time during the day = 1 or 2 tickets (teacher's choice)
(ex. raising hand consistently, working extra hard, helping a friend, keeping desk and/ or classroom clean, etc)
5. Earning a compliment from another teacher = 2 tickets
*There are many other ways students can earn tickets by following Clara Peterson's 3 R's.
Ways to lose tickets:
1. Moving down to "Yellow"= 1 ticket
(Students on yellow have the chance to earn their clip back up to "Green" in which they would earn their ticket back at the end of the day)
2.Moving down to "Blue" = 2 tickets
3. Moving down to "Red" = 3 tickets
4. Needing more than 2 reminders for a behavior= 1 ticket
*Mrs. McElhoe may take a ticket at any time if a student is not following expectations after being given a warning.
*On Fridays, students can count their tickets and “buy” coupons or prizes with them. Coupons can be worth 5, 10, 20, 30, or 50. They may also choose to buy something from the prize box worth 5 tickets or candy worth 1 ticket.

Respect ChartTo recognize positive individual behavior, Clara Peterson uses a respect chart in each classroom. Students sign their name on the respect chart throughout the week for respectful behavior in the classroom, hallways, specials, lunchroom, etc. On Fridays, a school-wide drawing is held and winners receive a prize and get their picture taken to display in the hallway.
