We made a drip line circle around a tree to show how wide the branches are. We talked about how deep the roots of the trees go, too. Did you know the roots of a tree are as long as the tree is tall? They go pretty deep into the ground!
We also got to touch different trees to see how each tree's bark is different and unique!
Today we went on a fall nature walk to Pells Park! We learned lots about different kinds of trees and their leaves, fruit and bark. We made booklets to collect our findings as we learned.
The Ford County Soil and Water Conservation District visited us to tell some neat things about trees and their leaves!
At the end of our walk, we got to choose our favorite leaf we collected and make a leaf rubbing picture! We put a piece of paper over our leaf and used a crayon to draw the impression.
We had a great time and learned lots about trees!
Welcome to Mrs. McElhoe's classroom blog! We will try our best to update you on the fun and exciting things we are doing in 1st grade as often as we can. We will include descriptions of our activities, pictures, and examples of our students' work.
